A rare rosé from Spain, Prieto Picudo by Preto (Tierra de Castilla) at Pink Fest this weekend

D’Amore Wine Selections is proud to present this unusual rosé wine (vino rosado) from Tierra de Castilla this weekend at the 4th annual Pink Fest at Vino Vino (click for event details). Guests will have the opportunity to sample more than 60 rosé wines from across the world.

The Preto winery’s Prieto Picudo (vino rosado) is made from the Prieto Picudo grape, an ancient indigenous variety of Spain, only recently rediscovered by contemporary winemakers there. This light red grape makes for a delightful rosé wine, with bright red fruit, acidity and mellow tannic structure.

But what makes this wine REALLY interesting is its gentle fizziness obtained using a traditional winemaking technique: during fermentation of the grape must, whole bunches of grapes are added to the vat. The resulting carbonic maceration gives the wine a singular fizziness. The result is vino de aguja (“needle” or “prickly” wine), a unique and distinct semi-sparkling rosé.

Don’t miss this chance to taste this rare wine, available for the first time in Texas.

Hope to see you Saturday at Pink Fest! THINK PINK!
